I feel like all I do here is sleep, which really isn't true. Although I am on spring break, and should be able to sleep as much as I want. We do get out for a few hours every day, and then again each night for dinner. I wish it was warmer outside so we could hang out, instead of napping (ha).
I woke up at 9:30 this morning, still pretty tired. I haven't been sleeping well, but it might be because I nap every day! For someone who loves sleeping as much as I do, you'd think I'd be in heaven. But I'm going a bit crazy from the lack of activity. Seriously. But today, we intended to do a lot more. We just forgot that since it's a holiday (Good Friday) that literally almost everything is closed...
After breakfast, we both checked our email quick. I'm not entirely sure why I bother--most of it appears to be junk mail. But I'm used to checking my email about a billion times a day--it's just a habit! Then we bought all day metro passes! Lucas Felten, another Ripon student, is studying nearby in Toledo. His parents are visiting, so we all went out for dinner tonight. I was excited to see another Ripon student. Plus, Melisa and Lucas are good friends, so Melisa was SUPER excited.
We rode the metro to "Estrecho." Nearby is a museum called "Once" where you are supposed to be able to touch stuff! First of all, it was in the middle of nowhere. Secondly, it was closed! Bah. So we hopped back on the metro, and went to the soccer stadium...Santiago Bernabeu. We didn't care enough to pay for a tour, but we walked around outside, and visited the store. After that, we explored more. There is a metro stop called "Estadio Olympico" so we went there. Apparently they have started work on an Olympic Stadium, which is pretty cool. They aren't in line to host the Olympics, but I'm sure they want to be? We basically looked at the construction--couldn't actually go there because it was across two major highways. Also, there was not much else there. Kind of lame.
We decided to head back to our hostel for lunch. We got back around 2:30--had some nutella sandwiches, and took a really long nap. Nothing better to do! After napping, we hung out in our room for a while. James and Anna left...now there are two more American girls--from Oregon--Poppy and Abby. They seem really nice.
Then, we went back to the airport to meet Lucas and his family. They are super nice, but it made me miss my family! They took us out to dinner (at a German restaurant) near our hostel. It was good, plus I've missed talking to people who speak English. After our late dinner, Melisa and I dropped them all off at the metro, and returned to our hostel. Everyone was just leaving to go out and drink, at about 12:30 am. I was able to get online, and talk to a few of my friends, which made my day! Now it's off to bed--we're meeting Lucas after breakfast, and he is determined to makes sure that we stay busy all day!
