It is an offense to sell knives to anyone under the age of 18

Today was...interesting. After my workout, I met Melisa for lunch, and then we walked to Tesco. We didn't realize how much stuff was over there. There was a store called Home Bargains, which had lots of random stuff. There was PC World, Matalan (clothing), a sports store (AND gym), Argos (electronics), and Next (clothing plus random stuff, like Urban Outfitters). There were some other ones that we didn't check out. I did find an armband thing that will hold my iPod when I run (yay sports stores). There was only one option, and only one left of it, but I do like it.

We made it to Tesco. It was a giant grocery store, really, with some other random stuff. It looked like there was some clothing, and some electronics. So, kind of like Walmart? That's what some people here have compared it to. But the majority of the store was food products. And they weren't actually any cheaper than the food products at Morrison's. Melisa and I were not impressed (plus it was a long walk). We took a bus back, since we bought a few things (like a 6-pack of 7Up...I couldn't resist).

My flat-mates invited Melisa and I to have dinner with them tonight. It was Alex's birthday, so Fran and Nikki made food. Joe came too (but I didn't remember his name...awkward). I don't think anyone sees Matt, if I even remember the name right. And there really are two guys that are both named John (ha). One is usually in the kitchen watching tv...that's the only place I've ever seen him. And the other is Asian. He is really friendly, and always smiles and says hi. Anyway, Nikki and Fran made "Mexican" for dinner. So...basically tacos. But with chicken instead of beef. And the chicken had breading on it. But it was really good, and it was nice to sit down with people from the UK and talk about stuff. It's always fun. Melisa and I are going to make something American for them (Joe's idea, and we do love it). We're not sure what we will make. What is American food? We discussed hamburgers (but neither Melisa nor I are big fans) and steak (I wish). We are thinking maybe breakfast, because breakfast in the US is much different than breakfast here. But we'd welcome any ideas people have :)

After dinner, we went to Quiz Night at Bar Uno! We did terrible. We felt pretty good about some of it (but we're pretty sure we'll never actually win). It wasn't as bad as the time when we had to identify British sports stadiums, but it still wasn't good. It was pretty funny though, and I love that Kat knows answers to so many random questions!

  1. Luke says hot dogs are pretty American. You could make chili cheese fries!
