Melisa and I did barely anything today. I read for a while, and just took it easy. Sundays are lazy days, and I love it. The best part of today was the SUPERBOWL :) There is a bar called Skerries, and they played the Superbowl for the American Football Club and everyone who wanted to watch. I don't actually think they were allowed to...on Sundays, all establishments are required to close by 4, or something like that. So they had to shut the curtains, so that people couldn't see we were there?
Anyway, it was a really good time. There was a really creepy guy who kept talking to us, and he actually ended up making us really angry. But, there were some rugby guys sitting nearby who were listening, and they decided to step in. They basically sat around our table, separating us from the stupid creeper. And they were absolutely hilarious. They had a billion questions about the US, and about American Football. Like, is Minnesota a state, or a city? I tried to explain where Wisconsin is, but they didn't even know where the Mississippi river is. I know the US is a big country, but the Mississippi River is pretty big, I'd say!
We didn't pay that much attention to the game, but then again, I never really do. The rugby guys actually needed us to explain some of what was going on. I let Melisa explain, since she knows a lot more than I do. They were very polite and respectful...they kept apologizing for their language, but none of it sounded like swearing to me? Its's probably a mixture of the fact that they have different "swear words" than we do, and when you add an accent, it's really hard to understand. They actually had trouble understanding us too, so it was kind of funny. I did learn something very interesting: their currency changes every year. They showed me a pound, and told me it had "the" Queen on it. I asked which one, which I think is a reasonable question, and they looked at me funny. When they get a new monarch, they replace all the money so that it has photos of the NEW monarch on the money. All in all, it ended up being a pretty fun night. Although now it's almost 4 am, so I should probably head to bed!
